MEGAN MC NAMARA
In Flood Megan sets up a pending disaster that is meant to push the viewer into problem solving thought processes by bringing about discomfort. The tap continues to flow endlessly and the basin, already full, none the less never overflows. The sculpture, which was first shown on her graduation show at Michaelis School of Arts in 2012, now has further pertinence because of the water crisis faced in Cape Town and in other places around the world. The humour of the work provides an accessible approach to thinking about disaster, global warming, and personal chaos.
